In this
mural, Lady Liberty cradles a dying soldier in her arms, remembering
the sacrifices in life and death, made by so many to secure
liberty for all.
284 faces
of Crawford County, Ohio veterans were painted to look as
though they were carved in the stone of the columns and back
wall.
This mural
was designed in the year 2000. Painting began in May 2001
and finished Nov. 2001. Mid-way through the project, the World
Trade Centers were attacked on Sept. 11th. Eric put up a banner
the day after that read, "Her torch still shines, Our
flag still waves." This phrase was added to the original
design, painted on the back arch, to serve as a memorial to
this most recent attempt to steal our liberty and freedom.
